Music composer and singer Bappi Lahiri dies in Mumbai at age 69

Alokesh Lahiri (27 November 1952 – 16 February 2022), popularly known as Bappi Lahiri was an Indian singer, composer, politician and record producer who popularised disco music in India in the 80s and 90s died at the age of 69 in Mumbai.

We lost another Legendary singer fondly known as Bappi Da Just 10 days after India lost its nightingale Lata Mangeshkar.

Indian singer Bappi Lahiri – music composer, known for his groovy disco tunes and iconic style, has died at the age of 69.

Bappi Lahiri, whose real name was Alokesh, was known for delivering popular songs in several films of the late 1970s-80s like Chalte Chalte, Disco Dancer, and Sharaabi.

Bappi Lahiri ruled the music industry for several years and had given many hits.

Bappi da as he was fondly called by film fraternity can be called as the father of Disco music in India.

The legendary Indian singer-composer Bappi Lahiri breathed his last on Tuesday night, February 15, 2022, at the CritiCare Hospital in Juhu. “Lahiri had been admitted to the hospital for a month and was discharged on Monday.

But his health deteriorated on Tuesday and his family called for a doctor to visit their home. He was brought to the hospital. He had multiple health issues.

He died due to OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) shortly before midnight. Several celebrities including Prime Minister Narendra Modi mourned his demise.
